Mexico 1831-Mo JM 8 escudos

The Mexico City mint struck eight escudos 1824-69 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 31274 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1831 Mo-JM VF30 NGC, Mexico City mint. An unflawed example with only "honest" wear of this large and popular gold type which should appeal to the budget-minded collector. From The FoxLair Collection."
