The first specimen was lot 72218 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $317.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1831-Pi JS. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC AU-58. Very attractive first year of series. 'I' of mint mark is on top of 'P'. Sharply struck. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The second specimen was part of lot 72240 in the same sale, which sold for $512.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Octet of 1/2 Reales (8 Pieces), 1831-50. San Luis Potosi Mint. Average Grade: VERY GOOD. 1) 1831-Pi JS. 'i' over 'P' in mintmark. 2) 1843-Pi AM. 3) 1844-Pi AM. 4) 1845-Pi AM. 5) 1845/3-Pi AM. 6) 1848-Pi AM. Rare. 7) 1849-Pi MC. 8) 1850/49-Pi MC. The SCWC mentions this date but not this mintmark variety.
