Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 323

This specimen was lot 323 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £1,800 (about US$2,788 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic, half-real, Durango mint, 1832 RM/L, M of assayer's mark over L, mint state and toned, extremely rare." Durango half reales are not common but this is a scarce date, especially in this quality. This is the first year of issue. Two varieties are noted for this date: 1832-Do RM (scarce) and Do RM/L (rare).
