Mexico 1832-Mo JM 8 reales
The first specimen is an 1832-MoJM 8 reales, one of a type struck 1825-97. It was lot 7435 in Ponterio sale 152 (Baltimore, April 2010) where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description noted, "Light adjustment marks on the reverse. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED."
The second specimen was lot 6381 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $184. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 8 Reales, 1832-JM. Slightly weak on eagle's breast. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." Assayer JM (José Garcia Anzaldo) is recorded at the Mexico City mint for 1822-32. The mintage is not recorded but the date is somewhat scarce, with a rare overdate, 1832/1, reported. The Mexico City mint opened in 1535 and is still in operation.
