This specimen was lot 31221 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 4 Escudos 1832/1 Go-MJ XF45 NGC, Guanajuato mint. Very pleasing to the eye with limited actual wear, few handling marks and very attractively toned with hints of red and orange in the fields. The 2/1 overdate mentioned as "possible" by Long is clearly apparent on the present coin - albeit not mentioned on the slab - and is scarcer than the plain date variety. From The Valle de la Rana Collection." Guanajuato is the most available mint for this scarce denomination.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
