regular date

The first specimen was lot 72351 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1832/1-Go MJ. Guanajuato Mint. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. Die style of 1832. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The second specimen was lot 72352 in the same sale, where it sold for $1,708. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1832-Go MJ. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-65. Tied with one other for finest graded at NGC. Bright Gem with a hint of toning. Cap style of 1831 while eagle becomes more standard in style. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Shown are two 1832-GO MJ one reales, from a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1825-62 and 1867-68. Assayer MJ is recorded at this mint for the years 1826-33. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a "bit" (one eighth of a dollar), is common except in uncirculated. This is a uncommon date of a common mint. Unlike the half real, where gem specimens turn up occasionally, one reales nearly always appear heavily circulated.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.903 fine silver, .098 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-372.6.
