Mexico 1832-Pi JS 8 reales

This eight reales is one of a series struck 1827-93 at the San Luis Potosí mint. This date is somewhat scarce compared to the later issues of the 1880's and 1890's but is not rare. The SCWC notes a rare 1831/0 overdate. Assayer JS is recorded for 1827-42.
The first specimen was lot 6436 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Potosi. 8 Reales, 1832-JS. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED."

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
