Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3309

This specimen was lot 3309 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN: Fernando and Isabel, 1474-1504, AR real, Seville, ND, ... vertically on each side of obverse shield, F-VF." Cayón lists catalog numbers 2694 thru 2726 for the Seville mint; Cayón-2722 has "estrella de ocho puntas" (star of eight points) for a privy mark. The "S" mintmark is on the arrow side. Altho Cayón attributes this to 1497-1504, it is quite likely that it was struck for some time thereafter, perhaps until the accession of Charles V in 1516.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 grams, 0.931 fine silver, this specimen 3.36 g.

Catalog reference: Cayón-2722, AC-411var.
