Spain (1497-1504)-G 1/2 real
The first specimen was lot 70321 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2020), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 1/2 Real, ND (1474-1504)-G. Granada Mint. Ferdinand & Isabel. NGC VF-30. Obverse: Bundle of arrows; Reverse: Bow with G. Rather deeply toned, this charming example would appear to be a bit conservatively graded, offering a light degree of handling and a solid strike." This fairly common type was also struck at Seville, Burgos, Toledo, Segovia, Cuenca and Coruña in a multitude of varieties. The catalog number assigned below is for the variety with the mintmark "G" on one side only and seven arrows in the bundle.
