Jean Elsen sale 158, lot 1515

This specimen was lot 1515 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €480 (about US$624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ESPAGNE, Royaume, Ferdinand et Isabelle (1474-1504), AR real, avant 1497, Burgos. Sans différent. D/ Aigle éployée portant l'écu couronné de Castille et Leon. R/ Ecu couronné de Catalogne et Aragon. Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand and Isabella, 1474-1504, silver real, struck before 1497, Burgos mint, without mintmark. Obverse: eagle displayed bearing the crowned arms of Castile and Leon; reverse: crowned arms of Catalonia and Aragon. Rare, Very Fine.)"

The one reales of Ferdinand and Isabella occupy numbers 2615 thru 2750 in the Cayón catalog from the Burgos, Coruña, Cuenca, Granada, Segovia, Seville and Toledo mints. This design, with arms on the reverse, was used until 1497. Later issues had a yoke with a bundle of arrows.
