This specimen was lot 46084 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Real, ND (1474-1504). Segovia Mint. Ferdinand V & Isabel I. PCGS EF-45 Gold Shield. variety with no markings flanking obverse shield, and mintmark (aqueduct) proceeded by "P" on the reverse. An attractive, boldly detailed example of the type, with pleasing dark gray toning throughout." Cayón devotes 133 catalog numbers to the various varieties of this type, struck at seven mints: Burgos, nos. 2618-2631, Coruña, nos. 2632-2639, Cuenca, nos. 2640-2653, Granada, nos. 2654-2674, Segovia, nos. 2675-2693, Seville, nos. 2696-2726, and Toledo, nos. 2731-2750. This example has a rotated P and an aqueduct on the reverse and six arrows in the bundle on the reverse. There are also two, 4 and 8 reales with this design.
