Aureo y Calicó sale 448, lot 130

This specimen was lot 130 in Aureo y Calicó sale 448 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 430 € (about US$562 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Catholic Monarchs. Cuenca. 1 real. Obv.: fERNANDVS*ET●:ELISAdET+. Rev.: Coat of arms between D and K. DOMI●NVS*MIChI*ADITORNO. Prior to Pragmatica. Lions and eagles of Sicily topped by three dots. Under the castle on the right p. Slight defect in flan. Rare. MBC+ [choice very fine]. Ex Isabel de Trastamara Collection 12/12/2018, no. 318." The Cuenca mint used a cup mintmark during the reign of the Catholic Kings. Assayers C, P, M and various privy marks are reported in Cayón but not a D. This early type, with two shields, is quite a bit scarcer than the later type with a yoke and bundle of arrows.
