Aureo y Calicó sale 447, lot 1108

The first specimen was lot 118 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,903 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Reyes Católicos. Segovia. 1/4 de real. Sólo conocemos otro ejemplar, el de la Colección Isabel de Trastámara y los cuños son los mismos. Rarísima. MBC. (kingdom of Spain, Catholic kings, undated quarter real. We known of only one other example, extremely rare, very fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1108 in Aureo y Calicó sale 447 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 400 € (about US$523 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, "Catholic Monarchs. Segovia. 1/4 of real. Obv.: Crowned F, aqueduct below. +CO DEVS*CONIVNGIT. Rev.: Crowned Y. +OMO NON SEPARET*C. Prior to Pragmatica. Straightened. Very rare. MBC- [about very fine]. Ex Isabel de Trastamara collection 12/12/2018, no. 579." Note the crude aqueduct mintmark on the reverse of the first specimen and on the obverse of the second. Other cuartillos were struck at Cuenca, Burgos, La Coruña, Granada, Seville and Toledo.
