The first specimen was lot 33808 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand II & Isabella I 4 Reales ND (1469-1504) MS62 NGC, Seville mint. An interesting variety with a flipped reverse central design. Arrows pointing right, 'Square D' to the left. Toning highlights accent the devices." Isabel was queen of Castile 1474-1504; Ferdinand king of Navarre and Aragon 1479-1516; their joint rule of Spain dates 1479-1504. The second specimen was lot 1512 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €380 (about US$494 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"ESPAGNE, Royaume, Ferdinand et Isabelle (1474-1504), AR 4 reales, s.d., Séville. D/ Grand écu couronné entre S et °/IIII. R/ Faisceau de six flèches sous un joug. A d., . . Très Beau à Superbe. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand et Isabelle, 14779-1504, undated silver four reales, Seville mint. Obverse: large arms between mintmark and denomination; reverse: bundle of six arrows under a yoke. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

The third specimen was lot 1513 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €220 (about US$286 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"ESPAGNE, Royaume, Ferdinand et Isabelle (1474-1504), AR 4 reales, s.d., Séville. D/ Grand écu couronné entre S et °/IIII. R/ Faisceau de six flèches sous un joug. A d., . Belle patine. Très Beau à Superbe. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand et Isabelle, 14779-1504, undated silver four reales, Seville mint. Obverse: large arms between mintmark and denomination; reverse: bundle of six arrows under a yoke. Nice patina, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

The fourth specimen was lot 1124 in Aureo y Calicó sale 447 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 360 € (about US$470 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[3] noted, "Catholic Monarchs. Seville. n. 4 reales. Slight defect in flan. Scarce. MBC+ [choice very fine]." This type was struck at Seville with 28 different privy marks. This example has the "S" to the left of the shield, six arrows in the bundle, no stars, and a square "D" under "REX" on the reverse.
