This specimen was lot 31234 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1868 Ca-JG MS61 PCGS, Chihuahua mint. Mint State with gorgeous color on the eagle side and abundant luster, with the few contact marks expected for the designation. A very scarce date in its own right, missing from the Norweb, Eliasberg and - perhaps more significantly - Gerber collections. From The Law Collection." The Chihuahua mint struck eight escudos 1841-71 but none of the smaller denominations.
