from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 77310
SB225-77310r.jpg

This specimen was lot 77310 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1868-Mo CH/PH. Mexico City Mint. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details." This denomination was never hoarded like the eight reales and uncirculated examples are very scarce to rare. Mexico City is not a rare mint for four reales but is less common than Guanajuato or Zacatecas. For 1868, assayers CH and PH are both better but not rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 0.3925 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-375.6.
