Shown is an 1868PiPS two reales, one of a type struck intermittently 1829-69. Assayer PS is recorded at the Potosi mint for 1868-69 only. Other mints include Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Alamos, Hermosillo, Zacatecas, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Mexico City, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. The 1861MoCH is the only date of two reales that is reasonably common in high grade, the result of the dispersal of a hoard.
