Mexico 1868-Zs YH 2 reales

Shown is an 1868ZsYH two reales, one of a type struck 1825-72. Assayer YH is recorded at the Zacatecas mint for 1868-70 only. Other mints include Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Alamos, Hermosillo, Mexico City, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. The 1861MoCH is the only date of two reales that is reasonably common in high grade, the result of the dispersal of a hoard.
