The first specimen was lot 22316 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $185. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1868-GoYF. PCGS MS-65+ Secure Holder. A vibrant lustrous Gem." The second specimen was lot 23409 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1868-GoYF. NGC MS-63. Well struck with flashy luster and hints of peripheral toning. A premium example for the grade. Ex: Coin Galleries May 24, 1989 Lot #897." This Guanajuato issue is perhaps the most common date in high grade.
