This specimen was lot 72472 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1868-A DL. Alamos Mint. Republic. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details Gold Shield. A fairly RARE type, this example does exhibit some light tooling along with scattered roughness to the surfaces. Nevertheless, a solid representation of the issue." The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but the 1868-A is merely scarce. Assayer DL was active 1866-71, 1874-79.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
