This specimen was lot 2811 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $345. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. San Luis Potosi. 8 Reales, 1888/7-PiMR. Light attractive toning. NGC MS-64." The San Luis Potosi mint, which struck the type 1827-93. The San Luis Potosi mint closed in 1893, having struck most of the silver and copper denominations but never issued gold. The SCWC lists the date as common, along with a slightly scarce 1888/7 overdate.

Recorded mintage: 2,438,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
