The Mexico City mint struck four escudos 1825-70 and is one of the available mints for that denomination; this date is listed as common. This specimen was lot 40281 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,058. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 4 Escudos, 1857/6-MoGF. NGC AU-58. Slightly weak strike."
