This specimen was lot 73127 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,159. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1857-Mo GF. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-64. Scarce date. Tied with two others for finest of four graded by NGC. Well struck with dark multi-color tone. An exceptional example of this date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Mexico City mint struck two reales 1825-37, 1840-42, 1847-63, 1867-69. Assayer GF listed for 1855-57. This is listed in the SCWC as a common date.
