The Culiacan mint struck two escudos 1846-57 and most dates are reasonably available. The first specimen was lot 28534 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 2 Escudos 1857C-CE, XF, harshly cleaned. A scarcer provincial mint." The second specimen was lot 45327 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1857-C CE. Culiacan Mint. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED Details. Fr-88; KM-380. A well struck coin with a notable lamination error on the date side."

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
