The first specimen was lot 25322 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1856/4 Mo-GF, MS65 NGC, a glittering jewel with sharp features and full mint brilliance, quite rare in this Gem condition." A half escudo of the Mexico City mint, which struck this denomination 1825-69. Long[2] notes this date as common. No regular date is noted, only the overdate.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .049 troy oz AGW.
