This specimen was lot 28533 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $163.33. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold Escudo 1856Ga-JG, VF, lightly cleaned with a dig in the obverse field. Scarcer Guadalajara mint issue." The Guadalajara mint struck this type 1825-60; the SCWC prices this date only 25% higher than a common Mexico City issue.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
