This specimen was lot 72397 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $585.60. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1856-Mo GF. Mexico City Mint. NGC Unc Details--Obverse Scratched. Rare date. Second finest of only two graded by NGC. Scratches between rays under attractive dark toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Mexico City mint struck this denomination 1825-33, 1850-63 and most dates are common. This one is rare. Assayer GF is listed for 1855-57. Unlike the half reales, which appear occasionally in gem condition, this denomination nearly always comes heavily circulated.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a key date.
