Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 73013

This specimen was lot 73013 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $341.60. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1857-C CE. Culiacan Mint. NGC VF-30. Second highest graded of three examples by NGC. Well struck with attractive dark toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Culiacan mint struck two reales 1846-57, 1860-61 and 1869, with most dates being at least somewhat scarce, all with assayer CE (Clemente Espinosa).
