This specimen was lot 72297 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,586. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1857-Do CP. Durango Mint. NGC VF Details--Cleaned. French eagle. Only example graded by NGC. Rare date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Durango mint struck one reales 1832-37 and 1841-64 and a number of dates are rare. Assayer CP (Carlos de la Peña) is listed for 1853-73.
