Mexico 1829-Zs OV 8 reales

This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is scarce compared to the later issues of the 1880's and 1890's. Assayer OV is recorded for 1829-31; this date is fairly scarce. The other assayer for 1829, AO, is rather common. This specimen was lot 6460 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Zacatecas. 8 Reales, 1829-OV. NGC AU-58."
