This specimen was lot 169 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico City, Mexico, 4 escudos, 1829JM. AVF with weak book side, traces of luster, toning around details." Guanajuato is the most available mint for this scarce denomination with Mexico City second. This date is listed as scarce in the SCWC. Mexico City issued the type 1825-32, 1844, 1850, 1856-63 and 1868-69.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.875 fine gold, .380 troy oz AGW, this specimen 13.37 grams.
