This specimen was of lot 24430 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1829 Mo-JM, AU53 NGC, very attractive early date with sharp details and plenty of mint luster." The Mexico City mint struck eight escudos 1824-69 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.
