Mexico 1825-Mo JM 8 escudos

Heritage sale 3021, lot 22325

The Mexico City mint struck eight escudos 1824-69 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 22325 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,586.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1825 Mo-JM, AU. Weakly struck in the central areas, with nice luster and light obverse adjustment marks."

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
