This specimen was lot 73076 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $244. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1829-Go MJ. Guanajuato Mint. NGC EF Details--Cleaned. Scarce date. Second finest of only two graded by NGC. The other is AU Details. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Shown is an 1829-G^O MJ 2 reales, one of a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1825-68. Assayer MJ is listed for 1826-33. Other mints include Potosi, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Guadalajara, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. The SCWC lists this as a common date.
