This specimen was lot 2383 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $188. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico: Durango. 8 Reales, 1812-RM (Durango) NGC VF. Ferdinand VII. Laureate head right. War of Independence issue. Legend weakly struck. NGC graded Very Fine, Details (Surface Hairlines)." This specimen is one of a type struck 1812-22 in Durango. During the War of Independence, the royalists opened branch mints and struck dollars at Chihuahua (KM 123), Zacatecas (KM 111.5), Guadalajara (KM 111.3), Guanajuato (KM 111.4) and Durango (KM 111.2). Some of the branch mint issues vary considerably from the appearance of the Mexico City issues, others are quite faithful. The Durango mint remained open after independence and struck coins until 1895.
