This "imaginary bust" type was struck in Mexico 1810-12. This specimen was lot 30868 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1812 Mo-HJ, XF40 NGC. A very scarce type. Although a bit softly struck, no serious flaws are present."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 grams, 0.875 fine gold.
