This specimen was lot 31375 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold Escudo 1812 Mo-HJ AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint. Noticeably bold in the central designs, with pleasing amber color that circles the legends. A choice offering, nearly Mint State, and with immediate eye-appeal. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This type was struck 1809, 1811 and 1812 only and is much scarcer than the preceding escudo of Charles IV (KM 120) and the succeeding type with the standard bust (KM 122).
