This specimen was lot 1109 in Goldberg sale 46 (Beverly Hills, May 2008), where it sold for $4,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico - Zacatecas. War of Independence. Royalist Coinage. 8 Reales, 1811. Ferdinand VII, 1808-1833. L.V.O., late series. Mountain above L.V.O., chain of rosettes below; cross on distant peak. Reverse: Crowned Bourbon arms, flanked by bannered pillars. Modest actual wear, and good surfaces for series. Lightly toned, with touches of iridescence. Very Rare error variety: Ferdinand VII misspelled as Ferdinand VI. NGC graded EF-40."

This type and its cousins (KM 189 thru KM 192) were issued 1810-12. Later, the royalists obtained better equipment and minted Ferdinand VII bust 8 reales (KM 111.5, 1813-22) in large quantity.
