Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Mexico City is fairly common for the mint, along with an 1876/5 overdate. This specimen was lot 9203 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Mexico City. 50 Centavos, 1876/5-MoB. NGC MS-61.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
