This specimen was lot 1395 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 20 Pesos, 1876-CnP. NGC AU-58. VERY RARE date. Nice strike." This specimen is one of a series struck at the Culiacan mint 1870-1905. Although production was substantial, many dates are rare. Mintage figures are not a reliable indicator of rarity for this type due to the accidents of hoarding; many low mintage issues are readily available while other high mintage issues are very rare. Assayer G is also noted for the year.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 33.84 g, 0.875 fine gold, .952 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-122; KM-414.2.
