Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Culiacan is fairly common for the mint. Like most fifty centavos, high grade specimens are extremely rare. This specimen was lot 9151 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. 50 Centavos, 1876-CnP. Nice strike, toned. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
