This specimen was lot 71251 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1876-HoAF. NGC MS-64. An exceptional example of this date. Single finest certified of this date at NGC. Well struck and brilliant with strong luster." The Hermosillo mint struck eight reales 1861-95 and most of the dates from 1874 on are fairly common.
