Mexico 1875-Cn P 50 centavos

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Culiacan is the first common date for the mint. The SCWC lists an overdate, 1875/4, as slightly scarce. Like most fifty centavos, high grade specimens are extremely rare. This specimen was lot 9150 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $690. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. 50 Centavos, 1875-CnP. Rare in this high grade. Beautifully toned. NGC MS-62.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
