This specimen was lot 21066 in Heritage sale 61630 (Dallas, February 2024), where it sold for $119. The lot description[1] noted, "Mexico: Republic 8 Reales 1875 (7/7) A-DL XF Details (Reverse Scratched, Cleaned) NGC, Alamos mint. Double punched 7 in date variety. Dunigan and Parker note that this type is intrinsically scarce but '...anything above Extremely Fine, or better, [is] very rare.'" The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but the 1875-A is fairly common. This variety with the repunched date is awarded a premium. The 1875 with the AS mintmark is scarce. Other mints for 1875 include Chihuahua, Culiacan, Durango, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Hermosillo, Mexico City, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 377, DP-As13.
