Mexico SB120-23275r.jpg

This specimen was lot 23275 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Pesos, 1875-Do M. Durango Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Reflective in the fields and attractively toned throughout with only light hairlines contributing to the assigned grade. Although this date is not cataloged as a better date in the Standard Catalog of World Coins, this appears to be the first offering since the Goldbergs sold a MS-62 in May 2007 (sale 41, lot 4757)." The Durango mint struck this type in some numbers 1872-84 but most dates are scarce and those specimens which do appear are often harshly cleaned.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 16.92 g, 0.875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-132; KM-413.3.
