The Guanajuato mint struck eight escudos 1825-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 4122 in Goldberg sale 74 (Los Angeles, June 2013), where it sold for $3,680 including buyer's fees. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 8 Escudos, 1859-Go PF. Hand with Liberty Cap over book. Reverse: Eagle. Sharply struck with frosty mint luster. NGC graded MS-63."
