This specimen was lot 23308 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1859-DoCP. Durango Mint. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Minimally marked for the grade with a set of natural planchet adjustments running over the 'B' in 'REPUBLICA' on the eagle side. Single finest graded at PCGS. A SCARCE date that is seldom offered." The Durango mint struck half escudos 1833-38, 1843-55, 1859-64 and is generally considered a common mint tho many dates are rare.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .049 troy oz AGW.
