This specimen was part of lot 73261 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $292.80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Duo of 4 Reales (2 Pieces), 1827 & 1859. Mexico City Mint. Average Grade: VERY FINE. Both: KM-375.6. 1) 1827/6-Mo JM. 2) 1859-Mo FH. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. This four reales was struck at the Mexico City mint 1825 and 1850-68. Assayer FH is noted for 1858-60. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a half dollar, is common up thru Very Fine.
