Stephen Album sale 43, lot 2441

This specimen was lot 2441 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $102. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO: Republic, AR real, Zacatecas, 1852-Zs OM, assayer OM, nice medium iridescent toning, NGC graded AU55." The Zacatecas mint struck this one real 1826-62 and 1868-69 and most dates are common. All the mints were supposed to strike minor coinage for local use but only Zacatecas and Guanajuato took this obligation seriously.
