This date is one of the most common for the type. The type was struck at Guanajuato 1825-68 with assayer PF recorded for 1848-68. An overdate, 1852/1, is recorded for the year. The second specimen was part of lot 73101 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,159. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Group of 2 Reales (14 Pieces), 1844-53. Guanajuato Mint. Average Grade: VERY FINE. All: KM-374.8. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors."
